Media and Teaching – Media Literacy (2017)

The multimedia world we are surrounded with today is in a constant process of perfecting technology and producing new media. Generations who have been familiar with and surrounded by multimedia content since their birth, experience each media message differently.

The main objective of the project “Media and Teaching – Media Literacy” is to strenghten the capacity of teachers in primary and secondary schools in Vojvodina by introducing and/or encouraging multimedia innovative teaching methods.

Analyzing and using the media in existing teaching units will contribute to media literacy and will encourage active participation and critical thinking of students in teaching and extracurricular activities.

Within the project, two educational seminars for professional development of teachers and professors of primary and secondary schools in Vojvodina will be organized. Also, an electronic guide will be created within the project to assist project participants and other interested educators in the practical application of media literacy within their teaching units.

The most desirable change this project wants to achieve is to sensitize teachers for the implementation and understanding of media content in teaching, both traditional and new online. The media literacy program is not only intended for native language teaching units and civic education units teachers, but also provides the tools necessary for the use of the media in other teaching fields such as mathematics, geography, history, physics, chemistry, music and computer science.
