ENHANCING THE LEVEL OF MEDIA LITERACY IN YOUTH

Netherlands’ Fund for Regional Partnership – MATRA, December 2018 – September 2019

By educating media professionals and those who will soon become professionals, and the young people, members of the public to critically analyze/read the news and verify its sources, to deconstruct the fake news in all its forms published in the media and to actively participate in making these deconstructions public and by reporting them to the editorial board of the Fake News Tragač  this project will advance the level of the media literacy among (young) media consumers and producers as well the accountability and social responsibility of the media.

During the project implementation, two workshops for the media professionals and students of journalism will be organized covering the areas of critical analysis of media discourse, analysis and verification of facts, visual verification tools – video materials and photographs, as well as standards for research, writing and editing texts.

Apart from that, 20 workshops for elementary and high schools students will be held in numerous Serbian cities where our media literacy experts with the students and their teachers will discuss the influence of the media and the importance of developing critical awareness and on typical examples, they will jointly analyze fake news, their characteristics and ways of placement.
